IBM PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX(공식적으로 AIX용 HACMP(High Availability Cluster Multi-Processing) 또는 HACMP라고 함)

- IBM PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX는 클러스터 관리 소프트웨어입니다. PowerHA SystemMirror 클러스터의 노드는 하트비트 또는 활성 유지 패킷이라는 메시지를 교환합니다. 노드가 이런 메시지 보내기를 중지하면 PowerHA SystemMirror는 클러스터에서 다른 노드에 장애 복구를 호출합니다. 그리고 실패한 노드가 복구되면 PowerHA SystemMirror는 다시 클러스터로 통합됩니다.

 

- 두 대 이상의 system을 하나의 클러스터로 묶어서, 각 system 이 감시하고 있다가 한 대에 장애가 발생하면, 다른 system이 장애가 발생한 system의 자원을 Fail-Over 합니다.
즉, 장애 발생 시에는 자원을 분명히 system service의 중단이 일어나게 되며, 이 중단 시간을 최소화하는 것이 HACMP의 기능 이며 대개의 경우, 중단 시간은 30초에서 300초에 이르게 됩니다.

Troubleshooting

Problem : PowerHA 6.1 will not start after updating AIX to 7.1 TL5 SP5 or 7.2 
- PowerHA 6.1과 AIX7.1간의 호환성에 문제가 없으나 AIX 특정 레벨(7100-05-05 or 7.2)로의 업데이트 이후 HACMP 기동 불가
- 무중단 롤링으로 작업 불가 -> 작업 중단 후 PowerHA 버전 업그레이드 필요 

After updating AIX to 7.1 TL5 SP5 or 7.2, an attempt to start PowerHA fails and any resources configured to be started at that time will not be brought online.
 

Symptom
The following may be seen in the SMIT screen:
Detected previous unexpected software or node failure during startup.

The output from lssrc -ls clstrmgrES:
Current state:  ST_INIT

Any resources managed by PowerHA will not be brought online on this node as expected.

Cause
Statement for clients:

You have encountered a known issue after upgrading your PowerHA 6.1 cluster to AIX 7.1 TL5 SP5 (or later) or AIX 7.2 .

At these levels, a newer version of perl.rte is delivered which is not compatible with the topsvcs component of RSCT.

PowerHA 6.1 (which is no longer supported) requires topsvcs.

As a result of this incompatibility, the topsvcs perl startup script fails, which in turn prevents the topsvcs subsystem from starting.

Since the grpsvcs component of RSCT depends upon topsvcs, grpsvcs also does not start.

When clstrmgr attempts to become active, it cannot connect to grpsvcs and remains in the ST_INIT state.

The currently supported levels of PowerHA do not use topsvcs and will not encounter this issue.

Please revert AIX back to the previous level and plan to upgrade PowerHA as soon as possible.
